Payal Karumbiah believes children's spaces should be thoughtfully designed to balance aesthetics, functionality, and longevity, creating environments that evolve with them. As the founder of The Baby Atelier, she has developed a 360-degree approach to kids' interiors, ensuring spaces are comfortable, adaptable, and designed to grow with the child.
With a Masters Degree from Parsons School of Design and a Master of Science in Quantitative Finance, Payal combines market foresight with a strategic approach to design-led business growth. Her experience spans investment banking in New York, Mergers & Acquisitions at KPMG, and trend forecasting at WGSN, where she worked with some of the world’s leading design houses. She also played a key role in Veneta Cucine India, the company that introduced Italian modular furniture to the country.
Since launching The Baby Atelier in 2016, Payal has worked to make it a trusted destination for children's interiors, offering tailored design solutions that prioritise safety, independence, and adaptability—while keeping the spaces fun. Focused on clean design, she ensures that every space evolves with a child’s changing needs while maintaining simplicity and functionality.
With a growing presence in India and Dubai, Payal collaborates with architects, designers, and parents to create spaces that are both beautiful and practical.
